5th generation descendant of pilgrim Stephen Hopkins.
Around 1760, mariner Simeon and wife Betsey moved from Truro, Massachusetts to Brunswick in the then Province of Maine.
In 1762, they purchased land on Great Island.
In 1778, their son Simeon was killed during the Cherry Valley Massacre, a Revolutionary War battle in New York.

Document from 1977 verifies burial in this location with his wife but his gravestone was broken and illegible, now missing.
