William Carrington, 84, a retired lock inspector for the Diebold Safe and Lock Co., died yesterday at Christ Hospital. Mr. Carrington of 2615 Kennedy Blvd., Union City, was considered an expert in his field. He was charged with responsibility for the operation of Diebold bank locks from Halifax, Canada to Key West, Fla. He began working for the company as a 21-year-old man. He retired 12 years ago at the age of 72. Mr. Carrington, who was born in Connecticut, formerly lived in Brooklyn, where he was associated with a lodge of Masons as a 32nd-degree member. His widow is the former Grace LaVaux, also of Brooklyn. Mr. Carrington moved to Union City 49 years ago. Burial will be Friday from the Schlemm Funeral Home, Union City.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral from William Schlemm, Inc., Funeral Home, 22nd Street and Kennedy Boulevard, Union City, Friday, January 31 at at 11:30 a.m. Rev. R. Anderson will officiate. Cremation, Garden State Crematory, North Bergen, Visiting hours 6 to 9 p.m.
