Obituary for Margaret (Peggy) Cochran Campbell
Margaret (Peggy) Cochran Campbell, of San Angelo passed away October 4, at the age of 95. Peggy was born August 19, 1923, in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked for the War Department in Washington D.C. during WWll and it was there that her soon to be husband, Fred L. Campbell, came to propose after returning from WWll. He decided if he survived being a POW he would find Peggy Cochran,
whom he knew through mutual friends, and marry her. He proposed on their first date and she finally accepted on their third date. They had a beautiful marriage of 66 years and created a loving home for their children and a welcoming home to all.
Peggy was a wonderful partner in Fred’s ministry and loved teaching Sunday school, Bible school and supporting Fred in his ministry in Ballinger, Texas, Tyler, Texas, and St. Paul Presbyterian of San Angelo. She was a volunteer at Shannon Medical Center in the I.C.U. waiting room and also made pillows for the Shannon Auxiliary for over 20 years. Peggy always made others feel important and loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Fred L. Campbell. She is survived by her children, Peggy Campbell King and husband Milton, of Burleson, Texas, Lee and Lisa Campbell of San Angelo, and Ann Campbell Gholami and husband Ahmad, of Highland Village, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Erin Contreras, Robin Chester and wife Liz, Ryan Chester, Joshua Johnson and wife Daryll, Adam Boedeker and wife Maureen and Alexandra Gholami, as well as 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of San Angelo and New Haven Assisted Living for their kind and loving care of our Mother. Matthew 25:21 “His master said to him, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
