Married DeLone Rich in LaPoint, Utah on January 14, 1954.
Vernon enlisted in 1951 and served 3 years in the Army, while spending 11 months in Korea. He was honorably discharged and received several medals, including a Purple Heart. After returning from the Army, he married his sweetheart and started his family while farming in Nine Mile. Later began working in the uranium and potash mines in Moab and eventually retired as a coal miner in Carbon County. Vernon was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America, Hiawatha Local # 6363. He loved his horse Blaze, team roping with his brother, and spending time with his family camping, boating, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his wife DeLone Davis; sister, Carol (Doug) Pilling; his children; Vernon Lamar (Valerie) Davis Jr., Valena (Raymond) Karcich, Dale Gene Davis, Todd J. (Birdie) Davis, Janell (Chance) Norton, 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Lenore (Lowell) Davis, Udella (Marvis) Mortensen, Dexiy (Walter) Simms, Devon (Jean) Davis, Delma (Chester) Simms, Belmont (Laura) Davis, Myrna (Reed) Alger, and Mark Davis.
Funeral service, Saturday, October 13, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at the Wellington First LDS Ward Chapel (50 North 100 East). Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price Friday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery with military honors by the Price American Legion Post # 3. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.
