Sally Jean Leslie Baggs Janney, 72, of Oak Hill, WV died at her home on Saturday, September 20, 2008. Born August 27, 1936 at Ludowici, GA, she was a daughter of the late Albert Hall and Thelma Christine Swindell Baggs. She was preceded in death by a sister, Shelby Baggs Hallman, Lakeland, FL. She is survived by her husband, Dr. John D. Janney; a son, John David Janney II and his wife, Wendy of Winston-Salem, NC; and a daughter, Karen Janney Rhodes and her husband, Michael of Sanford, NC. She is also survived by two grandchildren, whom she adored, Lauren Elizabeth Rhodes and William David Rhodes, both at home in Sanford, NC and by a sister, Shirley Bullard of Cottonwood, AL. Mrs. Janney was a graduate of Ludowici High School, Draughons College, and attended the University of Georgia, Hinesville extension. She has been a homemaker for 40 years. She was a member and past President of the Woodland Oaks Garden Club and the Fayette Study Club. Sally was a life member of the WV Garden Club, Inc. (WVGC), member and past President of the Oak Hill Grade School PTA and member and past President of the Oak Hill Junior Women's Club. She served the WV Federation as State International Affairs Chairman, State Project Concern-Hope Chairman and editor of the WV Clubwoman, member of the former Oak Hill Civic League, member and past President of the Auxiliary to the West Virginia Optometric Association, life member and past President of the Auxiliary to the American Optometric Association, a life member of AOA PAC and a member and past Chairman of the Ladies Golf Association of White Oak Country Club. She belonged to three bridge clubs. Sally was a life-long Methodist. She was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church (OHUMC) where she was a member of the Worship Committee,a former member and past chairman of the Susanna Wesley Morning Circle, and a member of the New Beginning Circle.

Burial at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Active pallbearers will be nephews, Dr. Jim Vargo, Dr. John Vargo, Chris Vargo and Dr. Tony Sciara, Paul Martin, great nephew and friends, Jim Myal and Ed Kiliany. Honorary pallbearers will be: John “Pro” Mackey, Tom James, Al Gannon, Vince Sundstrom, Gary and Wanda Perry, Bill Preston, J.
