Mr. Herbert "Herb" Hoover Alexander, 89, of Advance, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was born January 14, 1929 in Forsyth County to Stella Doby Alexander and James T. Alexander. Herb retired from Taylor Brothers Tobacco Company after 37 years of service. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed Bluegrass and Gospel music. He was a member of the Yadkin County Beekeepers Association and was a beekeeper for over 60 years. Herb also enjoyed woodworking, road trips with his family and friends. He was a kind and loving dad, pawpaw and husband who loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Corum Alexander and two sisters, Odelia Trivette and Theodora Graham. Surviving are his wife, Betty Brandon Alexander, who he married on November 4, 1948; two daughters, Sharon Effler (Tal) of Clemmons and Deborah Gioello (Dale) of Georgia; grandchildren, Olin Seats (Kelly) of Cary and Stephanie Monson (Steven) of Lexington and two great grandchildren, Sara Kate and Sawyer Monson Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and a special nephew and his family, Jamie and Emily Graham and Jessilyn and Marley; three brother-in-laws, Harry Graham, Larry Brandon (Carolyn) and Wayne Brandon (Gwen) and a sister-in-law, Linda Massengill. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Boyers Chapel Church of Christ with Mr. Charles Alexander officiating. The family would like to thank all the staff at Clemmons Village I for the loving care given to dad. We would also like to thank the Drs. and nurses at Trellis Supportive Care, Hospice of Davie County, Kenneth Bowles and Charles Alexander for all their kindness and consideration for dad and the family.
