Gladys L. Aldridge, 95, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island, with Pastor Jay Towell officiating.

Interment will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.

Gladys was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Grand Island, the daughter of Josiah and Emma (Weidenthaler) McMullen.

She grew up in the area and received her education from the Grand Island Public Schools.

She was united in marriage on Jan. 7, 1939, to Robert L. Aldridge in Minden.

The couple resided in Grand Island, where she worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Ulry-Talbot, and later worked in the cafeteria for Grand Island Public Schools for 11 years.

Gladys was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Ladies Circle.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, square dancing, playing cards and bingo, and serving the church doing various mission work.

Those left to cherish her memory include her four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Gayle Aldridge of Charlotte, N.C., Ken and Vicki Aldridge of Mansfield, Texas, Michael and Sherie Aldridge of Grand Island and Keven and Sheri Aldridge of Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Kathy Babcock of Humansville, Mo.; and 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, in 1980; siblings, John McMullen, Fred McMullen, Edgar McMullen, Kenneth McMullen, Floyd McMullen, Wally McMullen, Mable Davis and Emma Bodine; and an infant grandson, Boyd Michael Babcock.
