Edward J. Carney, age 76, of Bourbonnais passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home. He was born February 6, 1942 in Kankakee, the son of Thomas & Agnes Huffman Carney. Edward married Janice Tofari on February 4, 1967 in Bradley.
Edward was a retired employee of Vulcan Materials. He enjoyed history, fishing, playing cards, and traveling. He loved spending time with his family.
Edward was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from 1960-1964.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Carney of Bourbonnais; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Glen & Paula Robinson of Kankakee and Rodney Robinson of Longwood, FL; one daughter and son-in-law, Bernadette & Matthew Leek of Clifton; three grandchildren, Kristi, Kyle (Amber), and Kenton; three great-grandchildren, Evalyn, Austin, and Ayden; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol & Donald Zens of Chebanse; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Gerald & Anna Carney of Sebring, FL and Robert Carney of Chebanse. Edward is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tom Carney.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Chaplain Dan Horton will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or Ronald McDonald House Charities.
