Bessie May Reed, 64, a resident of the Franciscan Health Care Center, died there Dec. 15, 1995. Those who wish, may meet at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. Second Ave., for the 10 a.m. grave side service Tuesday, VFW Grant Farmer Post No. 992 Ladies Auxiliary will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice through Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St.
Mrs. Reed was born April 28, 1911, in the Sanish, ND log cabin on her family's homestead to Errett Austin and Amy Elizabeth Edmondson Johnson. They moved to Wolf Point, Mont., where she attended schools. At 10, she moved to White Fish, Mont., and lived there until moving to Walla Walla in 1929. On Aug. 1, 1920, she married Oliver Reed in Walla Walla. She was a photographic retoucher at Miller Studio. Mr. Reed died in 1974.
Mrs. Reed was a past president of the VFW Grant Farmer Post No. 992 Ladies Auxiliary and a 50-year member. She loved gardening and growing flowers and vegetables. She was an artist who worked in watercolors and oils. In recent years, she enjoyed traveling to Montana and revisiting childhood memories.
Surviving are a niece, Amy Clayton of Port Angeles; a nephew, Jack J. Morris of Troy, Mont.; and two special friends, Anita Wrenchey of Walla Walla and Lorene Pryhorocki of Milton-Freewater. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Morris; a brother; and a nephew, Bert Morris. Bessie lived at 1865 E. Alder St., Walla Walla, WA.
