Born Sept. 19, 1917, in Strawn to Edward and Anna Datweiler Hartman, he married Elsa S. Schlipf on Oct. 19, 1941, in Peoria.
Surviving are two daughters, Vicki (and Al) Hartzler of Princeville and Mary Ann (and Rick) Plattner of Peoria; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Esther Hay of Fairbury; and one brother, Alvin of Arlington, Mass.
A Caterpillar Inc. employee for 36 years, he retired as a general foreman in 1976.
He was a member of Sheridan Road Apostolic Christian Church, where he served as a minister for 32 years, retiring in 1989.
Burial was at Parkview Cemetery.
