James was the son of Ollie Mae Howell and James Audra Hanson. He married Mary Louise Smith in 1953. Their children are Michael Hanson, Rebecca Simpson, and Elizabeth Holloway.

Obituary:

AMORY - James Hal Hanson, 72, died May 10, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Services are today at 2 p.m. at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Herman Clark officiating. Burial will follow at New Prospect Cemetery. Visitation is today from noon until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Hanson was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Hamilton to Ollie Mae Howell Hanson and the late James Audra Hanson. He worked for California Eastern at the Columbus Air Force Base in the 1950s and was later the owner and operator of Hanson Camper Sales. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Louise Smith Hanson of Amory; son, Mike Hanson of Columbus; daughters, Becky Hanson Simpson of Columbus and Liz Hanson Holloway of Amory; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Pallbearers will be Jonathan and Michael Holloway; Matthew, Blake, and Jacob Hanson; and Clint Simpson. Memorials may be made to the New Prospect Cemetery Fund, c/o J.H. Pickle, 40028 Pickle Road, Hamilton, MS 39746.
