Irene was the daughter of Andrew and Laura Andersen. She was a dental assistant until moving to Washington DC during World War II and working as a file clerk for the F.B.I. While in Washington she met Alexander Henderson Peale, a US Navy officer who she married in 1945. They raised two daughters and Irene worked as an elementary school teacher's assistant for 9 years. Her husband died in 2000. Survivors include her daughters, two grandchildren, and two siblings.
