She was born April 6, 1935 in Belmond, IA to Robert Ingersol Lobdell and Grace Lucille "Peggy" Probst Lobdell.

She married Bernard William Tremmel on August 30, 1953. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1988.

Janet was a graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1953. She played on the Ottumwa Bulldogs Girls basketball team, and was a member of GAA (Girls Athletic Association).

Her first job was as a switchboard operator at the local Ottumwa telephone company. She began working for the Ottumwa Community Schools in 1966 as a playground supervisor, then as a lunchroom helper, and as a teacher's aide at Agassiz Elementary School. She worked there until she retired. Janet had many connections to Agassiz School. Not only did she attend this elementary school as a child herself, but her daughter also attended this school where Janet was a member of the PTA. Through the years she formed many long-lasting friendships with the staff, her co-workers, and the students while working at Agassiz.

Janet loved singing, and joined the Ottumwa Sweet Adeline's and the Ottumwa Community Players. She also sang in the Free Methodist Church Choir. Other activities she enjoyed were working crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, going to music concerts, attending family "get-togethers", and traveling to Arizona during the winter months to visit her daughter, son-in-law, and her 4 grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Diana (Chuck) Eberts of Tempe, AZ, four grandchildren, Laura (Josh) Wray of Tempe, AZ, Christopher (Jen) Eberts of Chandler, AZ, Patrick (Erin) Eberts of Tempe, AZ and Jillian Eberts of Mill Valley, CA; one great-grandson, Wyatt Christopher Eberts; and Janet's longtime companion, Bob Anderson of Albia, IA.
