Boyd E. Pick, 78, of Danville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born Sept. 1, 1940, in Danville, the son of the late Charles A. and Bertha E. Forney Pick.

He graduated from Danville High School in 1958.

He was married for 48 years to the late Joan L. Pick whom he married July 2, 1966. He is survived by his wife, Cathleen S. Curran Eltringham Pick, whom he married Sept. 24, 2016.

Boyd was employed by Merck and Company for several years, from where he retired.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Danville, where he served faithfully and joyfully in the kitchen, cooking for football chapels, church dinners and funeral meals. He was also a member of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Senior Choir.

Boyd will be warmly remembered for his sense of humor and contagious smile. He enjoyed golfing, carpentry, driving and traveling. He was an avid Penn State fan.

His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and his grandchildren, whom he adored.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by one son, Robert L. Pick, and his wife, Shari, of Sterling, Virginia, and one daughter, Vickory E. Sawyer, and her fiancé, Stephen Fiegles, of Danville; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Pick of Danville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is also survived by three stepsons: Charles Eltringham and his wife, Tamara, Kevin Eltringham and his wife, Michelle, and Martin Eltringham, all of Coal Township; and two stepdaughters: Cathy Taylor of Coal Township, and Rebekah DePinto and her husband, Scott, of Bristol, Vermont; 15 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by one son, Scott Eugene, and one stepson, Brian K. Eltringham; and two brothers: Robert W. Pick on Jan. 30, 2013, and Charles O. Pick.

A Celebration of Boyd’s Life will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Danville, 12 Brookside Drive, Danville,(off Route 642 East), with the Rev. Dawes J. Dunham officiating. Burial will be held in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Middleburg. Friends will be received from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
