All 3 children died in a house fire that began while their parents were milking in the barn. Their parents were unable to get into the house because of the intense fire and neighbors drove them into Greenup (12 miles away) to get an undertaker to return with them to remove the bodies. They were originally interred in the Reffett Cemetery on Laurel. In 2005, their siblings moved them to the family cemetery and placed them beside their parents.
