Charles Michael "Mike" West passed away peacefully at age 82 surrounded by his family on Friday, September 14, 2018. Mike was born to parents, Charles and Alice West on July 16, 1936 in Bakersfield, California where he remained a lifelong resident. Some of Mike's hobbies in his youth included playing football, drag racing and attaining his pilot license. In 1954 he graduated from East Bakersfield High School. Mike married Carmen Baggiolini, in 1968, and they were together for fifty years and six days. He worked as a dedicated truck driver and business owner in the trucking industry for over 60 years. Mike loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his cherished grandchildren. He was strong in his faith and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Mike was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lou Anne Holmes. He is survived by his wife, Carmen; daughter, Michelle Kennedy and husband, Paul Tell; son, Jeffrey Hardy West and wife, Nicole; grandsons, Will and Charlie Kennedy; granddaughters, Willow and Ivory West; and step grandchildren, Ian and Lauren Tell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be held Friday, September 28th at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth's Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12300 Reina Road, Bakersfield, CA 93312. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Valley Children's Hospital, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Building Fund, or an organization of your choice.
