Billie Marie McClure, 88, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and formerly of San Angelo, Texas, died on Thursday, September 20, 2018. She was born on August 23, 1930 in San Angelo to Daniel D. and Laura Barrett, and was wed to Billy Carl McClure in March of 1950 in San Angelo. Billie worked with the Salvation Army from 1956 to 1965. She also received her degree in Elementary Education from the North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) in 1965. Billie was commissioned as an ordained minister in The Salvation Army in 1967, and was active in ministry until 1971. She returned to San Angelo in 1979, where she began teaching fifth grade at McGill Elementary School. Billie retired from teaching in 1996. She was a member of and served as an officer of the San Angelo Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Billie was preceded in death by her sister, Adeline Barrett Flanigan; brothers W. Samuel Barrett, Willis Taylor “Red” Barrett and Daniel D. Barrett. She was survived by: her daughter, Carla McClure Potter and husband Ernie of Choctaw, OK; her son and daughter-in-law, John David and Lynne McClure of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Darryl Wayne McClure of San Angelo; her granddaughters, Molly and Caitlin McClure; grandson, Buck McClure; six nephews and one niece. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, 26, September, at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
