Married Ethalinda Melvina Crews 29/Oct/1871 at Oregon Co., MO.

R. W. Dills, who has been ill for some time died Wednesday, May 16 at the home of his son, George. Uncle Rufus, as he was called by his friends, had been a lifelong resident of Oregon County.
He will be missed by his relatives and large circle of friends.
Rufus Wilburn Dills was born October 7, 1848, in Jackson County, North Carolina, and departed this life May 16, 1945, at the age of 96 years, 7 months and 9 days. He was married to Ethel Linda Crews, October 29, 1871, who passed away July 28, 1918. To this union six children were born.
He was converted at an early age and joined the Methodist church, later he joined the Freewill Baptist Church.
One daughter, Tennie Howell, preceded him in death in March 1944.
Surviving are Elsie Andrews of Hammond, Oregon; George Dills of Alton, Missouri; Edward Dills of Thayer, Missouri; Ella Riley of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Allen Dills of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who regret his passing.
During his suffering the last few weeks he called on the Lord to take him home to rest.
Funeral services were conducted at Shiloh Church, Sunday afternoon by Rev. Joe Willard, with singing by Smyrna singing class. The body was laid to rest in Dills Cemetery under the direction of the Carr Funeral Home with Masonic Rites.
