Herschel Ray Nix, Jr., age 75, of Denison, TX, passed away on November 19, 2017 at Beacon Hill Rehab in Denison, TX. Herschel was born on September 21, 1941 in Denison, TX to Herschel Ray & Evelyn Ainsworth Nix Sr. He married Evelyn Roach on December 2, 1986 in Ft. Worth, TX. During his employment years, he worked as a conductor for the Union Pacific. He served his country in the United States Army. He was of the Baptist faith.
Herschel enjoyed raising cows and loved to watch football & baseball. Most of all he loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of their home, son; Shan Ray Nix, step-father, A. D. Halterman, brother; B.J. Halterman of Denison, TX, grandchildren; Kevin Conner Hughes, Jordan Hughes, Bradley Hughes & Ashley Holliday, great-grandchildren; Judah Holliday & Levi Holliday, niece; Magen Gunter, Nephews; Darren Halterman, Scot & Chris Gurley, great-niece; Emily Brewster, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Carolyn.
The family will be having a service and will announce the date later.
