Marilyn Beth (Jensen) Nelson was born January 13, 1934, at Cozad, Nebraska, and passed away on September 19, 2018 at the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care in Bassett, Nebraska.

Marilyn was the third of six children born to Uffe and Beulah (Boggs) Jensen. She graduated from Lexington High and attended Kearney Teachers College where she obtained her teachers certificate.

On September 27, 1953 she was united in marriage to Norman Dean Nelson and moved to the family ranch in Springview, Nebraska. On the ranch they raised four children: Peggy, Ricky, Scotty and Tracy and was very active in the United Methodist Church and the ranching community.

In her life Marilyn was many things: wife, mother, rancher, musician, and business owner, but mostly she was a teacher. She began by teaching in a one room schoolhouse near Cozad, Nebraska and then teaching piano to the hundred plus children over the years as well as ceramic classes both in school and her ceramic shop. She also taught children the love of Christ by acting as Appleseed in the Clowns for Christ Ministry.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Uffe and Beulah (Boggs) Jensen, older brother, Neil Jensen, older sister, Barbara MacLean, younger brother, Bruce Jensen, younger sister, Elaine Shanks, and her husband, Norman Nelson.

She is survived by her younger brother Jeff Jensen of California, her children Peggy (Marlin) Smith of Johnstown ,Nebraska, Ricky Nelson of Springview, Scotty (Melody) Nelson of Springview, Tracy (Ayse) Nelson of Atkinson, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Scheffler, Drue (Megan) Nelson, Adam Scheffler, Amanda (Rich) Auten, Caitlyn Nelson, Nathan Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Zander Scheffler, Natalie Auten, Katie Scheffler, Dean Auten, Braylen Nelson, Brantley Nelson and Ella Auten.

Funeral Services were held at the United Methodist Church in Springview on September 24, 2018, with Pastor Michelle Byerly officiating the service. Music selections provided were, “Abide With Me,” “In The Garden,” “Amazing Grace,” “I Will Be Here,” and “Be Thou My Vision,”. Pallbearers were Jason Scheffler, Adam Scheffler, Amanda Auten, Drue Nelson, Caitlyn Nelson, and Nathanial Nelson. Honorary bearers were,all of Marilyn’s great-grandchildren. Burial followed at the Springview Cemetery near Springview.
