Blaine E. Hittie, 83, Berlin, died Sept. 16, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Dec. 14, 1934 in Berlin, son of the late George and Ella (Maust) Hittie. Survived by his wife of 54 years the former Margie Holliday; children: Deby Hittie, Blaine Jr. “Chip”, and Marcie (Mike) Simmons, all of Berlin; grandchildren: Amy (Lee) Sheets, Alan (Sarrah) Lyons, Gina (fiancé John Brant) Lyons, Monica (Tyler) Stewart, Catelyn (fiancé Corey Will) Hittie, Allison Hittie, Jacob Hittie, Brandy (Mike) Shepley, Leah (Landon) Wahl, and Alexis Simmons; great grandchildren: Isaac and Eliza Sheets, Gannon, Macie, Nash and Heath Shepley, Mia Wahl, and a future great grandchild due in November. He was a 1952 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and was a US Army Veteran. He was a dragline operator for Croner Inc. Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin, and a life member of Berlin Volunteer Fire Dept. In his early years, he enjoyed playing bluegrass music, calling square dances, and helping his father and neighbors. In his later years, he loved spending time with his family, hobby farming, and operating his sugar camp with his family and friends. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Sam Coughenour officiating.
