Raymond (Ray) Mohr, was 85 years of age when he died peacefully Thursday, January 10, 2008, at a local nursing home. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gary (Chief) Van Straten; two sisters, Zita (John) Johnson and Reg (Robert) Munson; and two brothers, Francis and Karl (Zita) Mohr.

Ray was born February 12, 1922, in Green Bay to the late Frank and Emma (Dury) Mohr. Ray graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1940. He then worked for CNW Railroad as a station agent in Zachow, Wisconsin.

In 1942, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines and served during World War II as a radio officer. He sailed the North Atlantic until 1946.

With his childhood friend, Bill Neverman, he started Tidy Didy Diaper Service in 1946, which is now known as Tidy Cleaners & Laundry.

On September 10, 1949, he married Patricia Murphy. They were married 54 years until her death on January 3, 2004.

Through the years, Ray served as President of the Annunciation Parish Council and later as a trustee for the Parish, as well as an usher for many years. He was a Commissioner for the Redevelopment Authority of Green Bay and President of the South Side Civic Association.

He enjoyed golfing, boating and the Packers. He was always so proud to say that he attended the Ice Bowl.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed. We will always remember him by his nickname of "Rugged".

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Karen Mohr and Jim (Moose) and Julie Mohr; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sue and Tom Carew and Nancy Van Straten, all of Green Bay; two grandchildren, Brooke and Travis (T-Ray) Van Straten; one sister-in-law, Doris Mohr; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, January 14, at Annunciation Catholic Church, with the Rev. Andrew Kysley officiating. Entombment will be at the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
