Patricia Ann (Todd) Petrie, 75, Kokomo, passed away September 14, 2018, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born December 25, 1942, in Logansport, to John Harvey and Martelle (Schwarzkopf) Todd.

Patty was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School, where she was a member of the Swing and Dixie Land Bands as an accomplished trombonist. She received an associates degree from Stephens College, in Missouri, and her bachelors, masters and counseling degrees from Ball State University. Patty was a high school physical education teacher at Clinton Central and Adams Central and an elementary school counselor with the Lafayette School System. As a counselor, she had a compassion and concern for the children’s well-being.

Patty enjoyed her family, sports, crafts, camping, traveling, showing horses, and her pets. She was a ten-year 4-H member where she developed an appreciation for crafts and sewing and an interest in working with animals. She was also a Carrol County 4-H Queen. Patty was a former member of Sharon Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ann (Steve) Myer Merrick; grandchildren, Valerie Ann and Brett Steven Merrick; sisters, Marlene (Richard) Todd Stout and Catherine (Irv) Todd Bailey; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services September 22, 2018, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, 44 Michigan St., Burlington, with Dr. Mike Holloway and Pastor Jim Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery.
