Arthur Hugh Cook, 93, formerly of Erie, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, in Richmond, Va. He was born July 10, 1916, in Erie, a son of the late LaVerne and Lavinia Batten Cook. Art graduated from North East High School in 1934, and from California State Teachers College in 1940. He worked at General Electric and was a consultant engineer to H.W. North Engineering, Penn Union Electric and Odin Stove-Curtis Wright in Erie during World War II. He was an assistant professor of Industrial Management at Gannon University where he taught engineering drawing, time and motion studies, and industrial quality control for 35 years until his retirement in 1981. He resided at Our Lady of Hope Health Center in Richmond, VA for the past two and a half years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annagrace Molnar Cook, in 2006; and four brothers, Ralph, Walter, Melvin and Merle Cook. He is survived by two sons, one grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in North East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gannon University.
