Funeral services celebrating his life were at 3:00PM Tuesday September 18, 2018 at Apples Chapel Christian Church officiated by Pastors Dave Johnson, Ted Cook and Steven Cook. Burial in the church cemetery followrd the service at the church.
Richard was born January 6, 1948 to Pauline Clapp Cook and the late Charlie M. Cook.
In addition to his mother Pauline, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Cook; son, Rick Cook and wife Darlene; daughter, Tamie Cook and husband Ted; grandchildren, Steven Cook and wife Rhyanna, Micaela, Brittany, Ashley, and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Clairity, Ezekiel, and Joanna; sister, Janice Tickle and husband Tommy, and brother, Tim Cook.
Richard was a native of Browns Summit, NC and was a graduate of Northeast Guilford High School and NC State University with a degree in Soil Conservation and Agriculture. He continued the long standing tradition of tobacco farming in the Cook family. He loved to take his grandchildren fishing on the family farm.
The family received friends beginning at 1:00PM Tuesday at Apples Chapel Christian Church.
