Gracie Imogene (Jean) Watts Caldwell, 87, of Pocahontas passed away September 14, 2018 at Pocahontas Healthcare & Rehab Center after an extended illness.

She was born December 23, 1930 in Jackson County Arkansas; daughter of the late William Thomas Watts and Lou Jennie Mae (Smith) Watts. She is also preceded in death by her husband Bobby Hamilton Caldwell, one brother Howard Watts, one sister Lola Mae (Watts) Sifford.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and an avid gardener. After her retirement from factory work, she could always be found working in the yard or the garden or tending to the animals on the farm outside of Warm Springs. No one who came to visit with Bobby and Jean during the summer months left empty handed. You would leave with a large bag of fresh vegetables from their garden or a dozen or so fresh laid eggs from their chickens. When Bobby, her husband of 58 years became ill, she cared for him at home until his passing. Even after the dementia took her memories, she wanted to take care of the cats who hung out around the nursing home. Jean will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Arlene (Caldwell) Brown and Barry Eugene Brown of Loganville, GA; 3 grandchildren Christopher (Brittni) Brown of Lawrenceville, GA, Aimee (Aaron) Brown Jennings of Birmingham, AL, and Kevin Brown of Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX; 2 great-grandsons, Ander and Raleigh Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Monday, September 17, 2018 at 11 A.M. in the Palestine Cemetery in Warm Springs, with Bro Shawn McElhannon officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4 P.M. till 6 P.M. in the Bryan Funeral Home in Hoxie.
