MRS. JOHN R. COUNCILL
The funeral of Mrs. John R. Councill, who died at three o'clock Sunday morning was held from the Black Creek Baptist Church, Monday afternoon at three o'clock in the presence of a large gathering of people from all sections of Southampton County and some from points out of Southampton. In the absence of the Pastor, Rev. C.L. Eubank, the services were conducted by Rev. L.S. Flournoy of the High Street Methodist Church, Franklin, and the body was laid to rest under banks of beautiful flowers in the churchyard of the Black Creek Baptist Church. The pallbearers were M.F. Redford, L.B. Norfleet, E.P. Jones, A.S. Johnson, J.A. Johnson, N.L. Carr, J.J. Camp, and S.R. Nicholson.
Mrs. Councill was fifty-one years of age and before her marriage was Miss Annie Charlotte Lee, the youngest daughter of Rev. J.P. Lee, of Murfreesboro, N.C., near which town she was born and reared. Mrs. Councill leaves besides her husband, three daughters, Misses Mary, Annie, and Miriam Councill, and two sisters, Mrs. L.L. Kelly of Hampton, Va. and Mrs. J.L. Carr of Whaleyville.
