A graveside service for Betty Jo Billingsley, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Chapin Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101 or call 800-822-6344.

Mrs. Billingsley was born on August 30, 1935 to Thomas and Myrtis Knowles in Columbiana, Alabama, and passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 in Lexington, SC. She was a Drum Majorette for Shelby County High School and retired from Chapin High School after many years of service. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy G. Billingsley; son, James Wilson Loyd, Jr.; siblings, Billy Frank Knowles, Edna Jackson, and Ollie Myrtis Williams. She is survived by her daughters, Leigh (Jeff) Weaver, Sandy (Jared) Bloom; grandchildren, Randall (Mariah) Owen, Shelby (Jason) Stickley, Jordan and Maddux Bloom, Matt Billingsley, Grant (Hannah) Billingsley; five great-grandchildren and brother, Charles Whitten (Pat) Knowles. Mrs. Billingsley is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, not to mention many friends. She was known as an avid golfer, a traveler, and she loved everyone with all of her heart. To say “thank you” is not enough for the ladies at Oakleaf. You loved her unconditionally, and it showed.
