Samuel was the son of Deacon John & Abigail (MNU) Damon. His father "came from Reading, England and settled first, perhaps, on Cowdrey's Hill, where was a very early seat of the Damons."

He and Mary are the parents of nine children.

In December 1675 Samuel was a soldier in the Narragansett War. [In 1765 Timothy Damon settled the lot drawn in Westminster Mass. for his grandfather's military service.]

"On the way to or from church he {Samuel} was thrown from his horse and killed; and his wife who was riding on the pillion behind him was so injured as to be unable to walk for the remainder of her life."

Samuel died intestate. His estate agreement appears in Historical Sketch of Ancient Redding, Massachusetts. . . Volume 1, Copy 2, 180.

He and Mary are buried in the Old Burying Ground according to William E. Eaton's "Old Burial Ground" now Wakefield, Massachusetts, 1688, 1935.

Eaton, Lilley, Genealogical History of the Town of Reading, Massachusetts. . .1639 to 1874. Boston: Mudge, 1874, 60-61, and 547.
