William “Willie” Ortiz, age 86, a resident of Montezuma, NM, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Christus St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Santa Fé, NM.
William was preceded in death by this parents, Lucio and Victoria Torres Ortiz, his beloved daughter, Margaret Ortiz and a brother, Tony Ortiz.
William is survived by his wife, Stella of Montezuma, NM, two children, Kathy Sena and her husband, Eddie and Danny Ortiz and his wife, Eileen all of Las Vegas, NM, four grandchildren, Edward Sena and his wife, Amanda, Stephen Sena and Nicole Gurulé, Danny Ortiz Jr. and Angelica Ortiz and four great-grandchildren, Kristianna, Kaden, and Kiana Sena and Evan Ortiz.
William was born in Sheridan, New Mexico on October 29, 1931.
On July of 1951 he entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as a Korean War Veterand in July of 1955.
William married Stella Alarcon on September 16, 1956 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. William worked road construction for the New Mexico State Highway Department and then was a boiler operator for the United World College prior to his retirement. William was a member of the Sociedad de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno de Santana and attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
William's pastime was fishing and hunting.
Cremation has taken place and services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church beginning with a rosary by the hermanos at 9:00 a.m. and Father George V. Salazar will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow with military honors from San Juan Argonne Post #1547 at Camposanto de Jesús, Maria y José Cemetery in Montezuma. His son, Danny Ortiz will be the urn bearer.
