Son of James J. and Beulah Thomas Phillips. James served in the U.S. Army. He owned Jim's Electric in Grant Park; served on the Yellowhead Township Board, Kankakee County Fair Board and was a Newcomers 4-H Club leader. He was a member of Sherburnville Christian Church, KWI Saddle Club, Kankakee Valley Saddle Club. Surviving are his wife, Opal; daughter, Carol; sister, Marion; 2 granddaughters. Preceding him in death were his parents; and several siblings, Al Phillips, Mae Rolles, Arazell Barnes, Inez Bethel, Lois Goble and Mary Ella Dyer. Funeral at Sherburnville Christian Church; burial in Sherburnville Christian Church Cemetery.
