Frances Bearden Mahaffey, 92
Mrs. Mahaffey passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at her home in Canton.

She was born July 24, 1914, in Ardmore, Okla., to the late John Marion and Eliza Cal Perna Daves Bearden. She lived in Canton since 1946 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton for 59 years. She grew up around Lake Worth and graduated from high school in Fort Worth. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing and a member of the St. Joseph Alumnae Association. She retired from Terrell State Hospital in 1978 after 21 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B.R. "Hap" Mahaffey in 2003; son, John Michael Mahaffey in 1988; 10 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include son, Bennett R. "Sonny" Mahaffey Jr. of Austin; four daughters, Betty McCann and husband Jere of Canton, Michele Reeves and husband Charles of Garland, Judy Cunningham and husband Sonny of Van, Mary Dykes and husband Kelly of Canton; five grandchildren, Dr. J.W. Dailey, Major Jared Norrell, Charles B. Dailey, Christie Leigh Mahaffey and Melanie Kaye Mahaffey; and five great-grandchildren, Audrey Norrell, Rogan Norrell, Heath Norrell, Ethan Dailey and Caleb Dailey.

Honorary pallbearers are Billy Jack Peace, Jimmy Eubank, Butch Hilliard, Gerald Turner, Billy Deen and Archie Scroggins.
