Samuel S. Engledow was a private during the Civil War, serving in the 36th Iowa Regiment. His death is documented among war records. He died of "consumption" at the Washington General Hospital at Memphis. No records were found as to where he was buried. At the time, thousands of Civil War soldiers were buried at the Mississippi River National Cemetery, later changed to Memphis National Cemetery. Although Samuel Engledow's name could not be found among those listed as buried here, it seems likely that is what would have happened. Any information to the contrary would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
