William "Bill" D. Aitken, 81, of Moline, died Monday, March 5, 2007, at Parkview Terrace, East Moline.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Bill was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Moline, to William T. and Fern English Aitken. He married Loraine Bardohl in 1960, in Rock Island.

Bill was a maintenance engineer for 28 years at John Deere Plow Planter, Moline. He was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a member of Elim Covenant Church, Moline.

He enjoyed fishing at the Hennepin Canal and camping at Melody Meadows. He also had coached Little League.

He is survived by son, Donald W. Aitken; two grandchildren; and brother, Richard Aitken. He was preceded in death by his wife; sister, Judith; and brother, Jerry.
