Willie Gene Voyles, 78, former Chaffee County resident, died Oct. 6, 2003, in Sulphur Veteran Center, Sulphur, Okla.
He was born March 12, 1925, in Davis, Okla., to Claud and Willie Velma Young Voyles.
He married Anita Best Voyles Jan. 24, 1948, in Duncan, Okla.
Mr. Voyles lived his early life in Davis, Okla., attending and graduating from Davis High School in 1942. He attended Oklahoma A&M for two years.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was a double Purple Heart recipient.
Mr. Voyles lived in Lawton, Midwest City and Colorado, before returning to Davis in 1988. He lived his last eight years at Sulphur Veteran Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Anita; sons, Michael Voyles and wife, Martha, Pueblo and William Dan Voyles and wife, Debbie, Leadville; brothers, Ross Elgin Voyles, California; J.W. Voyles, Tahlequah, Okla.; Jack Voyles, Moore, Okla.; J. T. Young, Davis, Okla. and Jack Young, Arkansas; grandchildren, Joshua, Seth, Shawnna and Jeremy Voyles and great-grandchild, Brandon Voyles.
A memorial service is pending.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice, 1514 Meadow Lane, Ardmore, OK 73401.
