Phyllis Carolyn Weidenhaft was born on September 27, 1927 in Glen Elder, Kansas, the daughter of Archie “Roy” and Daisy McCrory Taylor. She died Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 7 days.

Phyllis grew up and attended schools in the Glen Elder area before graduating in 1945. She taught in the Excelsior Country School after attending summer school at Kansas State College in Manhattan, where she received her Normal Teacher Training. She later worked for 25 years as a central service technician at the Mitchell County Hospital.

On November 10, 1946, she was united in marriage with her high school classmate Billy Weidenhaft at the Beloit Methodist parsonage. The family lived on the family farm until moving into Glen Elder in 1962. Four sons were born to this union – Larry, Joe, Brad, and Mike. They were privileged to spend 47 years of marriage together until his death in 1994.

Phyllis was a member of the Glen Elder Christian Church and the Ladies Aid.

In addition to her husband Billy, she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Larry; great granddaughter, Camie Ullom; brothers, Gail, Bob, and Kenneth; and sisters, Lila and Martha.

Phyllis is survived by three sons, Joe and wife Pat of Stockton, Brad and significant other Eve of Glen Elder, and Mike and wife Marsha of Beloit; 10 grandchildren, Brandon Weidenhaft and wife Julie of Hays, Jana Griffin and husband Ryan of Stockton, Kelli Cockrell and husband Brian of Stockton, Lori Firebaugh and husband Daniel of Glen Elder, Amber Ullom of Beloit, Levi Weidenhaft of Glen Elder, Andrea Eberle and husband Aaron of Glen Elder, Chase Weidenhaft of Lincoln, KS, Tanner Weidenhaft and wife Tegan of Beloit, and Sarabella Weidenhaft of Beloit; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, September 7 at the Glen Elder Christian Church. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM with family present from 6-7 PM Thursday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Glen Elder Christian Church.
