Mrs. Mozelle Vestal Shaffner, 88, formerly of Greensboro, and Jonesville in Yadkin County, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007, at Yadkin Nursing Center in Yadkinville. She was born in Yadkin County to the late Gordon Bilson and Bethania Victoria Brown Vestal. Mrs. Shaffner was a beloved mother and grandmother to her family. She retired from Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro. She was a member of Northeast Baptist Church of Greensboro, but her home church was Fall Creek Baptist Church of Jonesville. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Howard Shaffner, on March 20, 2006; and all of her brothers and sisters. Surviving are her children, Vicky (Danny) Wood of Asheboro; Bill (Wanda) Shaffner Jr. of Hamptonville; Leonard Shaffner of Summerfield; and Mark (Rhonda) Shaffner of Greensboro. She had eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Gentry Family Chapel of Jonesville, with the Rev. Don Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Fall Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 8, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. The family would like to express their gratitude to Yadkin Nursing Center and Magnolia' s Assisted Living at Yadkin Nursing Center, for all the care and support shown to Mrs. Shaffner.
