Memorial services for J. Scott Andrews, 53, will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating.
The son of Charles Ralph and Doris Mildred Holland Andrews, Scott was born September 4, 1964 in Sherman, Texas and left this world on August 27, 2018.
Scott graduated from Durant High School, and Oklahoma State University with a degree in Business. He began his banking career there with Stillwater National Bank & Trust. After graduating he moved to Houston and accepted a position as a loan officer trainee with Allied Bank of Texas. He returned to Oklahoma City and served as Vice President and branch manager for First Enterprise Bank. He entered law school at OCU, in their evening program, and graduated with his J.D. in 1993 with honors. He was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 1994.
That same year Scott moved to Ardmore and assumed the management of Overland Corporation. In 2000, he joined First Bank & Trust Co. as Vice President-Trust Officer.
In 2005, Scott became the first Executive Director of the Mercy Memorial Health Center Foundation. He served on the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce Board and was chairman in 2000 and 2001, served on the Ardmore Development Authority Board from 2006 to 2011. He was a graduate of Ardmore Leadership and Leadership Oklahoma XVII Class. He was past president of the Carter County Bar Association, past treasurer of Salvation Army Board, served on the Sunshine Industries Board and he also served as municipal judge for the Town of Dickson.
Above was Scott the professional, but at home family was a first priority. He spent hours dotting over his mother Doris. An opportunity to take her for ice cream or a trip to Durant for just a hug was never missed. His sisters, Crystal and Shauna were his go-to best friends whom he loved spending time. In the past two years, he and his companion Sarah burned up the road, laughed and loved the whole way.
Scott loved the outdoors. He was a member of National Wild Turkey Federation, and Ducks Unlimited. To say Scott was passionate about hunting would fall short of an accurate description. Scott was a true sportsman. He was an avid rattlesnake, dear, turkey and game bird hunter. Scott achieved one of the highest honors in the world of turkey hunting. He completed the World Slam Turkey Challenge where he successfully harvested a bird from each of the qualifying species. Again, never to shy from supporting the foundation of his passions, he participated tirelessly in facilitating events like the annual National Wild Turkey Federation banquets, Lt. Governor's Turkey Hunt and NRA fundraisers. Scott greatly enjoyed introducing kids, women, and men alike to the outdoors and wild game cooking. Scuba diving was also a passion.
