Manuela was the daughter of Ramon Gonzales and Manuela Schafer and sister of Santiago "Jim", Francisca "Pancha", Alegandra, Dolores "Lola", Bentura "Ben" and half-sister of Domingo Sepeda.
She married Joe Andrew Alvarez 6 January 1958 and they had 2 daughters, Josephine and Ramona and 2 sons, Carlos and Billy.
Later they were divorced and she married Luis Rodriguez and they were living in Lockhart, Texas, when she died in a hospital in Austin after an operation.
Survived by her husband of 18 years, Luis Rodriguez and her children, Josie (Sotero) Martinez Jr, Carlos (Carol) Alvarez, Ramona Alvarez, Billy (Diane) Alvarez, Phillip (Mari) Alvarez and 16 grandchildren and14 great-grandchildren.
