Mary Ellen Donahue was the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Durigan) Donahoe. (Note: the spelling of the family surname changed over time.)
She had two siblings that survived beyond infancy: Bridget Jane, and Anna "Annie". After the death of her mother, Mary's father remarried and fathered several children with his second wife, Eleanor Gilna.
Mary Ellen married William Henry Walsh who was born in County Cork, Ireland in 1831. William passed away in 1888 in Iuka, Tishomingo, Mississippi. His final resting place is currently unknown.
Mary and William were the parents of three children: William Constantine, Charles Albert, and Thomas Estin Walsh.
