On June 15 1904 Fred boarded the General Slocum along with his mother, brother, and sisters. But later during the journey the Slocum would be on fire.
Fredrick survived uninjured, but his mother, brother, and sisters were killed.
In 1905 his father became a citizen and in 1906 he remarried Katherine Zausch. They did not have any children despite the fact that they were born quite young. By 1910 Fredrick, his father, and stepmother moved to Queens. At Queens Fred got a job as a pipe cutter.
In 1915 Fred worked as a Machinst. In 1928 Fred Baumler married Catherine Scheckenback and had three children:

Lorraine; 1921
