Charles T. Davis
Okolona – Mr. Charles Thurman Davis, Senior Master Sargent, U.S. Air Force, Retired, died Monday, August 28, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House following an extended illness. He was born December 12, 1931 in Houston, MS, to John Parker Davis and Mary Emma Little Davis. He was a patriotic serving his country in the U.S. Airforce for 32 years, taking advantage of their educational program and completing an undergraduate degree in Horticulture.
Charles served as Mayor of Sansone Park, Texas in the early 70’s and lived in the Fort Worth area for more than 40 years where he was a member of First Christian Church of Fort Worth, TX. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Smyrna, TN for 57 years.
He and his wife, Sally Earnest Kendall Davis, whom he married November 19, 2010, moved to Okolona 2 months ago from Shreveport, LA where they had lived for several years.
A Masonic service will be at 11 AM, Friday, August 31, 2018 in the Okolona Chapel with Bro. Wayne Clegg and Bro. Randy Rhinehart officiating. Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 4 PM – 7 PM and Friday from 10 AM – service time, all at the Okolona Chapel. A graveside with military honors will be at 12:30 PM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Arlington, TX where he will be laid to rest with his late wife, Dorothy K. Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Davis of Okolona and her son, Curtis Kendall (Joy) of Houston, MS and their son, Chris Kendall and his 2 daughters, Mallory and Ella; 2 brothers, Kenneth “Kebo” Davis (Debbie) and Donald Gene Davis, all of Okolona; 3 sisters, Barbara Ann Corley of Okolona, Glenda Fay Clegg (Wayne) of Houston, and Jackie Buskirk (Danny) of Aberdeen; a host of nieces, nephews, other near relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, John Earl Davis, Paul “Joe” Davis, Jimmy Dale Davis, and 2 infant brothers.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Prairie Masonic Lodge #87, C/O Kenneth McVay, P.O. Box 184, Okolona, MS 38860, or to the charity of your choice. Condolences to the family may be e-mailed to [email protected].
