Jana Blair, renowned harpist, passed away quietly at her home in Salt Lake City on April 15, 2010, after a valiant struggle with liver cancer. By her side were family and loved ones.

Ms. Blair, who also performed under the name of Jaquelle Blair, was well known for her flamboyant and romantic presence at the harp. In her celebrated musical career she performed as harpist with the Utah Symphony under Maurice Abravanel and with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at Carnegie Hall. Her extensive touring as a solo harpist included New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Paris, where she performed for both heads of state and royalty.

Born in Ogden, Utah, she was the eldest of six children. Before graduating with honors from Ogden High School and the University of Utah she won the title of Miss Teenage Utah in 1966.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, James C. Blair Jr. and Reva (Brown) Blair and a brother, Jon David Blair, all of Ogden, Utah. She is survived by her sisters Judith (Steven) Peterson of Farmington, Utah; Jayne Blair of Ogden; Jacqueline Johnson of Alexandria Va.; and a brother, James C. Blair III of Ogden.

No funeral will be held, and Ms. Blair wishes that any tributes be made in her memory to the Utah Symphony, Ballet West, American Harp Society, and the Utah Harp Society.
