Ira Lee Flock, age 84, of Belen, NM, passed away on August 26, 2018.
Ira was born in Ellis, Oklahoma.
Ira was always mechanically inclined and he chose the United States Air Force as his career. Ira proudly served in the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and did with a short stint in Saudi Arabia. Although he was taken as a POW, it didn’t stop him from courageously continuing his military career with bravery and honor.
After his military career was over, Ira moved to Belen, NM with his wife, Quyt Flock (deceased). Here he found a place where he could lay down roots. Ira opened a mechanics shop that he operated until age robbed him of the ability to do the work. Ira became a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge in 1976 and even served as its governor for a while, and he found friends that were with him throughout his life. Ira was also a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Ira loved to hunt and fish, and when he could no longer participate in these activities due to his health, he turned his talented hands to woodworking. He taught himself how to make many things, his favorite being wooden whirly-gigs, and turning pens with a lathe. Ira lived a full life filled with love, friends, and family.
Ira was preceded in death by his wife, Quyt Flock, daughter, Mary Flock , son, Steven Flock, son, Charlie Flock grandson, and Steven Richard Davis.
Ira is survived by Ngoc Flock (wife), Patty Jo Smith (daughter), Toan Huynh (daughter), Tony Huynh (son-in-law), Ly Flock (daughter), William Flock (son), David Flock (son), Yevonne Flock (daughter), Larry Willcockson (son-in-law), Truc Ly (daughter), Trang Nguyen (daughter), Karina Flock (daughter), Penny Flock (daughter), Terry Flock (daughter), and Robin Flock (daughter). Ira has 34 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel in Belen on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow. Interment will take place immediately after at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Flock, David Flock, Tony Huynh, Larry Willcockson, Dylan Flock and Derek Flock.
