PROPHETSTOWN – Eugene M. "Mick" Summers, 88 of Prophetstown died Thursday August 24, 2018 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
He was born on July 16, 1930 in Sterling the son of John and Mary (Manspeaker) Summers. He married Beverly June Bielema on October 31, 1954. She died March 2013. Eugene had served in the US Army from 1947 – 1950 in Japan and Korea. He worked for Groharing Contractors in Morrison for 6 years and then as a brick layer for 36 years retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his daughter Cindy Mayfield of Prophetstown; his sons Eugene M. Summer Jr of Prophetstown; his daughter in law Margaret Wilkins of Morrison; six grandchildren: Ron Wilkins, Tracy Henson, Tawney Wiersema, Teresa Bielema, Tara Wilkins and Megan Borden; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Helen Paxton, a brother John Summers and a son Steve Wilkins.
At his wishes cremation will take place with a private family burial. There will be no visitation.
