Charles Clifford Briggs, 73, of Tahlequah was born October 5, 1944 in Tahlequah, OK to Clyde and Nellie (Park) Briggs and passed away peacefully Thursday, August 23, 2018 in Tulsa, OK surrounded by his family.
In 1965 he joined the United States Army and served time during the Vietnam War receiving National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device-60 and a Vietnam Service Medal Marksman (Rifle M-14) commendations. He received on Honorable discharge on July 25, 1967.
Charles was a self-employed Pitchman for over 50 years. He spent many years traveling different areas selling his household wares including Muskogee, Tulsa, Tahlequah and Downey, California. He loved to fish and camp and spent many hours doing what he loved.
He was a member of the Elm Tree Baptist Church in Tahlequah, OK.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kimberly Briggs; grandson, Blake Cruce; brothers, Wayne and Franklin Briggs and sister, Ruth Ross.
He is survived by his son; Clyde C. Briggs of Fort Gibson; daughters, Dawn Briggs and Beth Bullard both of Tulsa; sister, Reba Holt of Tahlequah; brother, Ernie Briggs of Tahlequah; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM.
A celebration of Charles’ life will be 10:30AM Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Gibson with Pastor D.J. McCarter officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Benny Ross, Tyler Cruce, Preston Bullard, Brady Bullard, Jeramy Brooks and Marshal Brooks serving as casket bearers. Military Honors will be presented. The family of Charles Clifford Briggs has entrusted his services and burial to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson.
