Gladys Louise Adams (nee Robinson) died of heart complications on Sunday, May 26th, at Bolingbrook Hospital in Bolingbrook, IL. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on July 4, 1920 to Mabel Mallinson Robinson and Robert Charles Robinson II.

She had one brother, Robert Charles Robinson III of Woodstown, NJ. Gladys was married to John Pershing Adams for 39 years and they had one daughter, Sara Jane Adams Acton.

Gladys was a longtime resident of Amityville, NY, where she had lived from the time she was about 8 until 2002 when she moved to Plainfield, IL, to be near her daughter and her family.

After graduating from Amityville High School she attended a year of finishing school in New York City before accepting a secretarial position in that city. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Amityville and volunteered for many years in the "Church Attic" thrift store.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Sara Acton of Plainfield, IL, as well as a niece, Betty Robinson Zion, and a nephew, Douglas Robinson.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Pershing Adams, and her brother, Robert Charles Robinson III.

Memorial visitation will take place on Tuesday June 4, 2013 from 10:30AM until time of memorial service at 11:30AM.

Cremation was private.
