Robert "Sonny" Warren Doom passed away peacefully on August 20, 2018 surrounded by family. Sonny was an amazing and caring man who never met a stranger and always had a wild and adventurous story to tell. He loved fiercely and forgave quickly. He proudly served in the United States Navy and after that he worked as a cowboy and a Bronco rider. You could find him arm wrestling at the roughest bar in town, drinking whisky straight from the bottle, or teaching Salsa dancing. Some would say that grizzly bears would quiver in fear when he would come around. Sonny was brave and laughed in the face of fear. He settled down (a little) when he became a father and grandfather. He had three children, Richard (Hezakiah) Eugene Doom, Robert Warren Doom Jr. and Melaney Shane Doom, three step-children, Harold Skipper, Joseph Skipper, and Helen Colville. He was a Paw Paw to 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was determined to win over the heart of a tall drink of water named Evelyn, and he did just that. Evelyn was finally able to tame the beast. He loved his bride and was there for her every step of the way. He was a truck driver for over 30 years and loved traveling the world. His love for the good Lord was strong and he remained a devout Christian his entire life. When he took his last breath on earth, he was greeted at the pearly gates by his parents, George and Ermal Doom and his two sisters. He may not have always been right, but he was never wrong.

Graveside services for Sonny will be held on Friday, August, 2018 at 9:30 AM at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort. 34904 AL-225, Spanish Fort, AL 36577. There will be a small gathering for food and fellowship immediately following at Forest Hill Church of God, 5508 Moffett Rd, Mobile, AL 36618.
