Patricia Bunker Coulson Shivers, 76, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at her home in Knoxville, TN surrounded by family. She was a member at Mountain View Methodist Church. She was born in Kankakee, IL to the late Francis and Wilhamina Bunker.

She graduated from the University of Illinois with a Ph.D. in Endocrinology and Biochemistry. Her postdoctoral studies were conducted at the University of Tennessee. She taught as an assistant/associate professor at the UT College of Medicine, Pellissippi State Technical College, and East Tennessee State University, and she authored numerous articles in peer reviewed professional journals. She directed several private and academic laboratories.

Always vivacious and energetic, she was an avid gardener, golfer, and tennis player. She was the gracious chatelaine at Speedwell Manor and hosted innumerable tours, barbeques, cookouts, and sunrise Easter services. She enjoyed taking care of her menagerie of miniature horses, basenji dogs, pygmy goats, turkeys, and cats.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles "Alex" Shivers, her daughters Christina Wood (Armand) and Pamela Quick (Chad), step children Britt Shivers (Irene), Alisa Leske (Georg), and Laurie Curtis (Bo), her sisters Barbara Moore and Linda Bunker, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm on Sunday, August 26 at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 3200 Maryville Pike, Knoxville, 37920. The family will receive friends preceding the service from 2pm-4pm. www.cremationset.com
