MACHIASPORT - Jeannette Frances (Kelley) Ingersoll, 92, of Machiasport, passed into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 9, 2018. She was born April 3, 1926 in Jonesport to Mary Alice (Look) and Jesse Brown kelley. She retired after 25 years at Elscot Corp in Gouldsboro in 2004 at age 78. She held many jobs prior to that, including spinning knitting yarn at the Regal Textile Mill in Ellsworth, packing fish, shucking clams, raking blueberries and making wreaths in Washington County, picking potatoes in Aroostook County and grading eggs in Somerset County. Jeannette worked tirelessly to have her beloved Church on the Hill in Addison placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 . Her hard work paved the way for the current building restoration project. She carefully preserved parts of the building including the front doors, shutters and lighting, allowing for their future restoration or replication. She was a prayer warrior and had a deep burden for lost souls coming to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. She looked for opportunities to tell people about Jesus and purchased Bibles for folks the Lord placed on her heart. There’s no doubt she was greeted by many of those folks when she stepped into heaven and more will be greeted by her when the Lord calls them home. She loved being in church and singing hymns. During her last few months she began humming “Near the Cross” over and over, sometimes all day and night. one day recently she looked at Joyce and said, “I’m home.” In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Edna Davis; brothers Thomas and Richard kelley; and son-in-law, Arthur Merritt. She is survived by her children, Nancy Merritt, Patricia Hartman and spouse Fred, Richard Ingersoll and spouse Anita, Beverly Stone and spouse Timothy, Joyce Smith and spouse Brian and David Ingersoll. She leaves grandchildren Tracy and Tina Ingersoll, Melissa Smith and spouse Donald, Scott Merritt, Joshua Rand, Adam Crossman and Katrina Alley and spouse Matthew. She also leaves great-grandchildren Kaydence and Kenton Alley and Andalyn Ingersoll; nieces Valerie Worcester, Vicki garnett, Wanda Davis, Beth Morse, her special nephew Osborne “Obbie” Davis and their families; cousins Catherine Perry and family and Richard Kelley; her long-time friend Muriel Grant and many friends from her church families. We extend a special thank you to her professional caregivers, Senior Companion and Hospice staff, for your loving dedication and support of her care. A fellowship luncheon will be held at Head of the River Baptist Church, Cutler on August 26, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service with Pastor Scott Porter officiating. Interment will follow at her family cemetery, Kelley’s Point, Jonesport.
